On June 25, 2025 the Gillis family lost everything in a devastating house fire—including two of their beloved pets, Tillie and Fern. Their dog Ollie miraculously survived but is in critical condition, with emergency vet bills expected to exceed $5,000. The family is heartbroken, displaced, and starting from scratch. Any support to help cover Ollie’s care and begin rebuilding their lives would mean the world to them.

The Gillis family's worst nightmare became reality when a fire tore through their home, claiming nearly everything they owned—including their cherished pets, Tillie and Fern, who tragically did not make it out.

Miraculously, their dog Ollie survived after being trapped inside for a dangerously long time. He is currently receiving emergency care at the Coastal Emergency Hospital, including oxygen treatment that alone costs $3,200. His total vet bills are expected to exceed $5,000, and the full extent of his injuries is still unknown. Despite it all, Ollie is fighting—and his family is doing everything possible to give him the care he needs.

Their two other pets, Millie and Moss, were rescued by fire crews and are safe and healthy. The family is incredibly grateful for this small piece of hope amid the devastation.

The fire destroyed their home. But it wasn’t just a house—it was their family home, passed down through generations. It held a lifetime of memories: baby clothes handmade by their Grammie, 30 years of handwritten journals, meaningful travel keepsakes, photos and artwork that made the space feel alive.

They walked away with only the clothes on their backs. The upstairs of the home was burned beyond recognition, while the downstairs is heavily damaged by smoke and water. They will need to replace every essential item—clothing, furniture, toiletries, food, and pet supplies—as they begin the long road toward recovery.

Now, the Gillis family faces the impossible task of starting over. Steph fiercely supports her community, especially all her beloved animals. Now it is time we help her to cover Ollie’s critical care, replace essential belongings, and begin to rebuild their lives. Every donation brings them one step closer to healing.
