Mercer Wells was born June 10th, about a month early, and spent a few days in the NICU before being discharged. He had been doing great at home with mom, dad, and big brother Weston. At a follow up visit, they received some unexpected news regarding Mercers' health and we’re admitted to The Beverly Knight Olsen Children’s Hospital in Macon. After many tests and echocardiograms, they diagnosed Mercer with several heart anomalies and are transferring him to Atlanta for further treatment and surgery. With that, they are sure there are more details regarding his condition to come but as of now they are told he has VSD (ventricle septal defect) causing a hole in his heart as well as ASD (atrial septal defect) with a coarctation of the aorta which is effecting blood flow to parts of his body.
