Last night, Josh and the team at The Garbage Man experienced a total loss when their facility was destroyed by fire.
Yes, they do have insurance.
And yes, insurance will help.
But anyone who has lived through a fire knows this truth: insurance is not immediate, not complete, and not simple. Claims take time, reimbursements lag behind real-world needs, and many essential costs are either delayed, capped, or not fully covered.
Despite the loss, Josh was up all night replacing burned ignitions in garbage trucks so they could still serve the community and pick up garbage this morning. That’s the kind of business owner he is: hardworking, responsible, and deeply committed to his customers and employees.
This fundraiser is not about replacing what insurance will cover. It’s about bridging the gap so a local small business can:
• Keep employees working
• Replace uniforms, tools, and essential equipment
• Cover immediate expenses while insurance processes
• Stay operational for the community during recovery
If you’re unable or unwilling to donate, that’s completely okay. If you’ve ever relied on this business, worked alongside Josh, or simply want to support a local company doing everything possible to keep moving forward, your support means more than you know.
Thank you for lifting up a business that has always shown up for others.
Again- this fundraiser is meant to help bridge immediate gaps during the insurance process. Comments questioning insurance or donation choices aren’t helpful. If you’re able to support, thank you. If not, please scroll on with kindness.
