I was really hoping that I would never have to write something like this, but tragedy has struck some dear friends and I feel compelled to share their story. You will never meet a kinder or more beautiful family than the Galvez Pilicita Family. You are one of the lucky ones if you know Freddy, Betty, and their three daughters Nayeli (11), Yareni (9), and Carly (4).
Leo (my husband) and Freddy have been friends since high school. Despite being both from Quito, Ecuador, Freddy and Betty actually met in Spain. That is where I met them and I have had the privilege of knowing them now for over twenty years. When they moved to the United States over 4 years ago, they lived with us for 6 months. I witnessed firsthand the unconditional love and tender care Betty demonstrated to her family. On June 21st, Betty was at home showing this same love by making the girls something to eat, when she developed an intense headache and eventually lost consciousness. She was rushed to the hospital by ambulance but despite the medical personnel's best efforts, they were unable to save her due to a ruptured brain aneurysm. Now Freddy must take care of his family with no family nearby. Between hospital, funeral, and living expenses, things are going to be very difficult financially. We cannot take away the grief and pain of this sweet family, but if we can help relieve some of their financial burdens perhaps we can take away some of their stress so they can focus their energy on the grieving process. Thank you so much for your support. Freddy and the girls thank you as well. May God bless the Galvez Pilicita Family. God be with you and us till we meet again, Betty.
