On Tuesday, January 25, in the early morning hours, Makayla and Dawson Gallagher were blessed to welcome their sweet, healthy son, Cooper Dawson, into the world. Instead of being able to enjoy her sweet newborn shortly after his birth, Makayla's blood pressure spiked, which required immediate intervention. What resulted was an avalanche of complications that left Makayla requiring massive blood transfusions, surgery, and a critical stay in the ICU for almost a week. We are beyond grateful and rejoicing that Makayla has survived this ordeal, has a perfectly healthy baby, and has started on the road to recovery, being released from the hospital to rest at home and bond with her new family.

There are numerous challenges looming, however. As a result of her medical crisis, Makayla's kidneys have stopped working properly, and she is on dialysis 3 times a week, indefinitely or until they recover. In addition, what was anticipated to be an uneventful birth is now going to have significant medical expenses associated with it, in addition to the unexpected expense of needing to provide formula for Baby Cooper.

Out of love for Dawson and Makayla, we are establishing this fund to help them defray the medical expenses they will have for the foreseeable future as they recover from this harrowing ordeal.
