Help the Galindo Family

Juan Fernando Galindo was tragically killed Sunday afternoon during the volcanic eruption in Guatemala. As a member of the national disaster relief agency, he was coordinating the rescue efforts in one of the villages most damaged when the volcano erupted,  ending his life. He leaves behind a large and loving family,  his wife and most heartbreaking three young daughters.  

Juan Fernando is part of my Peace Corps host family.  The family who has loved me, cared for me, and become a true family to me over these last four years.  Josh and I had dinner with him a few weeks ago as we celebrated the 8th birthday of his nephew Diego. He was a devoted father, loving husband, and a kind man. The goal of this fund is to ease the financial burden that comes with losing someone so suddenly and to help sustain the lifestyle the girls had before their father´s death. Any donation, no matter how small is greatly appreciated.

Juan Fernando Galindo trágicamente falleció el domingo por la tarde durante la erupción volcánica en Guatemala. Como miembro de CONRED, estaba coordinando los esfuerzos de rescate en uno de los pueblos más afectados cuando el volcán entró en erupción y puso fin a su vida. Deja atrás a su esposa y sus tres hijas pequeñas.

Juan Fernando es parte de mi familia anfitriona de Peace Corps. La familia que me cuidó, se preocupó por mí y se convirtió en una verdadera familia durante estos últimos cuatro años. Josh y yo cenamos con él hace unas semanas cuando celebramos el octavo cumpleaños de su sobrino Diego. Era un padre devoto, un esposo cariñoso y un hombre amable. Por favor, aporten todo lo que puedan para ayudar a su viuda y a sus hijas pequeñas a seguir adelante,
