Help the Gable Family After Two Accidents

We are trying to keep our household running! In 2023, my grandchildren lost their mother due to triple-negative breast cancer. Anthony Gable Jr., now a single father with 3 children, a home, and all the normal responsibilities, had then become the sole provider for his little family in the blink of an eye. My husband and I gave up our home and completely changed our lives to move in with them to be able to help in any way we could. Now, thankfully, we are able to provide a second income back into his home with my husband working and helping to provide for our now unconventional family dynamic. I have been disabled since 2008 due to a work injury and am unable to work, and I am still recovering from Achilles heel tendon bone spur surgery. However, I am my grandchildren’s sole caregiver throughout every day so that Anthony, and now my husband, Anthony Sr., can both work full-time and continue to provide for these amazing kids. Please keep in mind both of these amazing men are blue-collar men and work physically demanding jobs.

On June 7th, Anthony Gable Jr. was hit on his motorcycle by a hit-and-run driver who pushed him into a telephone pole. By the grace of God, he is alive! He was flown to Cooper Hospital where he received multiple surgeries, stayed for 11 days, and had to go home with a wound vac still attached to his leg. He had multiple broken bones in his ankle and leg as well as a gaping wound where he had to have multiple surgeries to clean it out and then, hopefully, his final surgery where they were able to close the wound and apply a skin graft. His healing has only just begun. For the most part, he is laid up in his bed as the pain from it all is extensive, and when he gets out of bed, the swelling and pain become so severe it is hard for him to do much of anything. He has weekly follow-up appointments at Cooper in Camden, which is at a minimum a 1-hour drive, where he has to pay for parking, copays, as well as the gas spent going to and from. He has now begun physical therapy, which is 3-4 days a week, and yet again copays every time he goes. Not to mention the new challenges that come with that part of the healing process.

As we came together again as a family to pull through and all heal in our own ways from this traumatic event, on July 13th, Anthony Gable Sr., my husband, was in a motorcycle accident and was in the hospital for 3 days with a concussion, a broken back, and extensive soft tissue damage to his shoulder. He is now looking at multiple follow-up doctor appointments as well as physical therapy. He is self-employed as a small business owner and operator of Anthony’s Auto Glass, which he just started in March of this year.

These 2 men are the sole providers for our wonderful crazy little family. Anthony Jr. is trying and fighting diligently to try and get his disability; however, they’re saying it is still at least 10 weeks away from receiving any benefits. Anthony Sr., just starting out with his company, has no health insurance and no hope of receiving any benefits or monetary help at this time.

We are beyond thankful that BOTH of these men, by the grace of God, are still alive and here with us. However, at this point, these men are not only dealing with terrible pain and trying to heal physically, and only at the beginning of their very long roads of recovery, but their concerns of not being able to provide for their family are overwhelming, to say the least, for them both, and hurting them in ways bandages, surgeries, and physical therapy won’t help. One is worried he cannot provide for and protect his own children, the other worried he cannot provide for or protect his grand-babies.

We are not the family who asks for help, but I find myself in a position where I need to ask for you to help us out. Any little bit would help tremendously at this time. We are all so very appreciative of anything. Please find it in your hearts to help keep our home floating. We also have Cash App if anyone would rather use that. Gas cards, Walmart, ShopRite, or Aldi cards, or just regular Visa gift cards would be a help.

We are so thankful for any help! Please share this, and I pray people will find it in their hearts to help us keep our home and meet my grandchildren’s needs! Thank you all and be blessed!
