Our best friends Dave and Rachel have a long road ahead recovering from Hurricane Michael. They sustained significant damages to their home and these funds will help them get through the upcoming months.
In early October, David and Rachel faced mandatory evacuation from Panama City for hurricane Michael and headed north with their family. They watched the storm unfold on live TV from a hotel room in Alabama, with no idea what they would return home to. The city was wiped out. Their home was still standing but had taken considerable damage, and they were without water and power for weeks. Their property looked like a war zone with a large tree across their roof.
With hurricane recovery, things seem to continue to get worse long before they can get better. There are no resources and no infrastructure. Roads are blocked with debris and inhibit travel. Grocery stores and gas stations are not open. There are not enough supplies or workers in the area, and everyone needs repairs. While David is working, Rachel is focusing on getting Tobias and Leona back into to school, which is very emotional for the kids. Insurance doesn’t cover all the damages and may take months to secure, while their home remains damaged.
