Help the Foster Family Recover After a Devastating Lightning Strike
At approximately 7:15 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, a lightning strike caused extensive damage to the upper level of the Foster family’s home in East Grand Forks, MN, leaving it unsafe to live in. Thankfully, everyone is safe, but the family is now displaced while they begin the process of cleanup, repairs, and rebuilding.
This difficult situation comes at an especially challenging time. Travis is currently recovering from surgery and is unable to work, adding to the stress and financial strain of this unexpected disaster. The family is facing costs related to temporary housing, replacing damaged belongings, and other expenses as they navigate the recovery process.
The Foster family is known for always being there for others, and now it’s our turn to support them. We have set a goal of $15,000 to help provide relief during this difficult time and allow them to focus on healing and getting back home.
Any donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser and keeping the family in your thoughts and prayers is greatly appreciated.
Together, we can help lighten their burden and remind them they are not alone.
Organizer’s Note
This fundraiser was created by Brenda Powers, Leah’s cousin, with the knowledge and permission of the Foster family. All donations will go directly to Travis and Leah to help with temporary housing, essential expenses, and rebuilding costs following the lightning strike.
