On July 29, 2026, the Foster family narrowly escaped with their lives when catastrophic flooding and debris flows from Cutler Creek—following the Gold Mountain Fire—damaged much of their home on Blue Tip Drive, just north of Ouray. Their lower level is buried beneath feet of mud, rocks, and debris. Preliminary reviews indicate the home has sustained structural damage, and the county has officially deemed it uninhabitable while a full assessment is still underway. While they are incredibly grateful to be safe, they now face the overwhelming task of navigating recovery and the uncertainty ahead. The Foster family has three young children under the age of 11. This fundraiser is being organized by Ouray Wild Outdoors, a local Ouray community page, on behalf of the Foster family. We are not related to the Foster family; we created this fundraiser to rally our community around a local family impacted by this disaster. All funds raised will go directly toward the Foster family’s recovery expenses, including temporary housing, cleanup and debris removal, and other essential costs associated with stabilizing their situation and addressing the damage to their home. In addition, Eric Foster has taken on the urgent task of helping stabilize the surrounding creek area to help protect the entire neighborhood from future flooding events. A portion of the funds may be used toward materials, machinery rental, and efforts such as building temporary berms, levees, or other protective barriers in coordination with local needs and conditions before the next storm.
