Help the Forgotten Families in Jamaica’s Hidden Hills

We can’t forget the people in the bushes, the ones who are always last to get help.

Back home, nobody really calls me Lascelles. It's always Will, Willo, or Fire (trust me, each one comes with a story). I’ve always been the one people call when things go wrong, the one who somehow finds a way to make it right. But this time, I can’t do it alone.

Jamaica is known for its beaches, resorts, and vibes, but beyond the postcard views are the families who live deep in the countryside, in the hills of St. Mary and St. Elizabeth. Life there is simple, peaceful, and rooted in community. These are the elders, farmers, and children who grow the food that feeds the island, yet when disaster strikes, they’re the last to get help.

On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa, a massive Category 5 storm, tore through Jamaica and wiped out everything my family had. My parents and my nine brothers and sisters live in the hills of St. Mary and St. Elizabeth, and those hills took a hard hit. Roofs are gone, walls are down, and everything from food and clothes to school books is buried in mud or blown away.

When Melissa came, it wasn’t just a little rain. The wind screamed through the hills, trees snapped, and the whole place changed overnight. Homes were flattened, and the road is now buried under fallen trees and mud, cutting off access to help. Families are sleeping under makeshift tarps, doing their best to stay dry and stay hopeful.

I’m doing what I can from here, but I can’t carry this one alone. We are trying to raise as much money as we can in these difficult times.
These funds will help to provide: food, water, clothing, and temporary shelter and later, to start rebuilding homes once it’s safe to do so.
Every bit helps. Even a few dollars goes a long way back home.

This effort isn’t just for one household; it’s for as many families in these hidden hills as these funds can reach. During Hurricane Sandy, life had its own twist; it's what brought my wife and me together. So I know that even in tragedy, there can be silver linings. Let’s help create one now for the people of Jamaica’s hills.

Thank you for standing with us, for believing that even the quietest corners of the island deserve to be seen, heard, and helped. ❤️
