Dear friends, family and compassionate strangers,
My name is Ainsley and I never imagined I’d be writing this.
My fiancé, Lachlan Smith, has been diagnosed with Stage IV Terminal Bowel Cancer. He’s only 43 years old, and we’ve been told, painfully, we likely have less than two years left together.
We are devastated.
Lachlan is the rock of our little family, a devoted gentle partner and the most loving father to our 6-year-old daughter, Heidi. He's my best friend of 25 years and watching the man I love fight for his life is unbearable and for the past 2 years we have faced the overwhelming burden of doing it on just one income.
Our Reality
Lachlan had to stop working. The physical and emotional toll of cancer and aggressive treatments has left him exhausted and in pain. I’m now trying to hold everything together, caregiving, parenting, working full time and somehow staying hopeful, all while navigating endless medical bills, rising living costs & keeping food on the table.
Every day is a fight — for time, for dignity, for peace.
Our Goal: $500,000 — Create Memories, Prepare and Secure Heidi’s Future
We are humbly asking for your help to raise $500,000 to support our little family through this unimaginable journey. Your generosity will directly allow us to:
• Afford specialised care to give Lachlan comfort and dignity in his final days
• Provide counselling and support for Lachlan, myself and little Heidi as we face this together
• Create cherished family memories while we still have time, even a short trip, a weekend away, or just worry-free days together
• Secure a permanent home to give Heidi safety, stability and a supportive community, something she deserves more than ever
• Set up a small trust for Heidi’s future education, so she grows up knowing how much her dad loved her and believed in her future
This is more than a fundraiser. It’s about giving us time, dignity, and a chance to live fully while we still can.
❤️ How You Can Help
We know $500,000 is a significant ask. But we’re not just asking for donations, we’re asking for hope. If you are in a position to give, please know that your gift will change the course of our lives in the most profound way.
Every dollar helps. Every share matters. Every act of kindness gives us one more day to hold each other a little tighter.
Please consider standing with us during this heartbreaking chapter. We are forever grateful for your love, prayers, and support.
With all our love and gratitude,
Ainsley, Lachlan, and Heidi Fok-Smith
