I am writing to support my mother, Denhi Donis also endearingly known as the flower lady to most in her community. Denhi has lived in her home in the Bernal Heights district for 15 years. She distributes her flowers in her neighborhood and any event she goes to, which has led to her loving nickname. For the last couple of years that the world has been in a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic, my mom was served with an Ellis Act Eviction. She has now been fighting for the last couple of years to stay in her home of nearly two decades. Due to the pandemic, my mom has not been able to work being high-risk and immune-compromised. She has been in need of several surgeries that she has not been able to schedule for fear that she would not have time to recover and move her entire home.
