Our newest family member came into the world five weeks early and almost immediately had to fight his first battle — a partially collapsed lung and HMPV that landed him in the NICU for three days. Watching a newborn hooked up to monitors is something no parent should ever have to endure, and Alexandra and Jared handled it with more strength and grace than we could have imagined. The good news: he's a fighter, and he's on the mend. The hard news: life doesn't pause when a crisis happens.
Alexandra was in the middle of transitioning back from maternity leave when this all unfolded. Because of the timing, she has no pay coverage for the week she's had to take off to be by her baby's side. On top of that, they're managing mounting medical expenses and making sure their older son Lennon's life stays as normal as possible through all of this. Alexandra and Jared are the kind of people who would drop everything for anyone they love — and they have, time and time again. They're devoted parents, wonderful partners, and the kind of humans who make the world better just by being in it.
