Hello! My name is Briana Flores (that's me in the cover, as a baby). My sister and I were laid off from our jobs back in April. We have been trying our best to secure literally any full-time job, jumping through hoops to collect even just the little bit of unemployment benefits we're owed (one of us hasn't received any payments at all, and the other abruptly had their EBT cut and is trying to get a hearing to restore funds), all while trying to navigate bills and loans to not lose our apartment or get our utilities shut off. We've been taking steps to get low income assistance for utilities, but there are long waiting lists, or not enough local funding to go around in these tough times. Which leaves our rental debt climbing and eviction on the horizon. We will have to be prepared to fight the notice if it comes down to it, but in the meantime, we could really use some help to keep us safe and not incur an eviction on our history--which will make it even harder to find a new apartment after this.
The amount we have set is to the base amount of rent we currently owe ($3,272.50), with additional late fees ($295.00), a little extra for any processing fees on top of that and any minor bills we may fall short of this month. Anything helps, and I can upload any statements with proof of the amount we owe ASAP.
