Hi everyone! I’m Sylvia Farnsworth and my husbands name is Austin. We have two little girls and live in Tyler, TX.
When we moved into our home in November 2021, we began renovations immediately. We replaced flooring, painted, replaced countertops and re-did the guest shower. It was a gorgeous home and we were so excited to move in. About 6 months after we moved in, we had our first flood in the living room. Our new flooring had to be ripped out, new baseboards taken off, everything had to be cleaned and then we eventually replaced the flooring again. About 6 months after that, we had another flood, which meant that our new flooring had to be torn out again. Since that flood, we have never replaced our flooring because we just couldn’t afford it. Honestly, though, it would’ve been a waste to replace it because since that time, we have had so many more floods. I’ve lost count at this point of how many times our living room has flooded but it’s well over 10 times in our less than 3 years of living in our home. Just this week, we have flooded 3 times. The storms tonight (6/3) brought our worst flood yet along with a tree down that has broken part of our back fence.
Now, we know that there are so many people in need and so many people who have experienced damage from the storms lately. But, Austin and I have reached the point of desperation. We’ve recently had some new quotes given on all of the repairs that our yard would require and those amounts are between $15,000 and $20,000 and that’s just for the outside. Not to mention the costs that come from completely ripping out the rest of the water damaged wood in our home and getting the inside of our house back in livable condition for our family. We absolutely hate having to ask for help, but we just don’t know what else to do. We are so grateful to anyone who is able to help and we are also grateful to anyone who will be praying for us during this incredibly stressful and trying time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Any funds raised from this campaign will go directly to the necessary drainage repairs that our backyard requires along with the renovations to fix our home from the damage caused by the water that has entered our home so many times.
