Help the Family of Jayme Hext
Donation protected
On November 26, 2019, my stepfather, Jayme, was cutting down a dead tree in our yard. In freak accident, the tree fell in the wrong direction and landed on top of Jayme, who tried to move out of the way. As a result, he suffered multiple broken ribs, collapsed lungs, a broken left femur, broken left hip and pelvis bones, and a broken spine in multiple places. He was rushed to the emergency room at the AMITA Health Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin, before being transferred to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he has been in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit since arrival.
On November 29, Jayme had a surgery to fuse his spine from T7 to L3, where the fractures were located. On December 3rd, he had a surgery to repair his left femur bone injury. He will need one surgery on his hip bone, which is scheduled for December 5th, and may need another on his ribs. After this hospital stay, he will need to go to rehab to help him recover from the injuries and surgeries. He will not be able to put any weight on his left side.
Because of this accident, Jayme will not be able to work for the forseeable future. My mother, who has been at his side at the hospital since this occurred, also has not been able to work.
We are asking for $10,000 to help with the medical bills from his hospital stay, surgeries, and other treatments that Jayme will require, as well as any other bills that will come up around this accident.
