Help the Family of Chris Jones With Daily Expenses
Donation protected
My name is Tracy Oldfather and I am attempting to raise funds for the family of Christopher Jones, owner of The Meat Hook and C&K Processing. Chris recently lost his battle with liver disease and the family is devastated. As an owner of two separate businesses, his ability to work has been limited for most of 2024. While his wife Missy has done a great job trying to learn everything about both business to keep them going, Chris was the backbone of both companies.
Chris was the lead butcher at C&K Processing. Of course his skills were also needed at their storefront, The Meat Hook, where they offered high quality cuts of meats and even freshly made sandwiches when they could. His wife Missy is not a butcher, but she has been learning more about the businesses and has been trying to run both while taking care of her husband with his multiple medical appointments and frequent hospital stays.
After losing the lease to their storefront, Chris found a spot he loved but the building had been vacant for quite some time and needed a major renovation. It was during the renovation, when Chris's health rapidly started to decline. Missy was forced to learn about remodeling while in the midst of it all, trying her best to make their dream come true. Alas, Chris did not live long enough to see the final results of the building, but Missy is still working on their dream. They were a true team in every sense of the word.
We all know what inflation is doing in our own households. Can you imagine trying to pay your household monthly bills, along with your businesses monthly bills, medical bills, funeral expenses and remodeling costs so your business can be open again full time? Add to these numbers the fuel for getting Chris to and from his medical appointments, medication, visiting him during his frequent hospital stays, special groceries as Chris had a very limited diet. The debt they owe has increased tenfold and the new storefront isn't quite ready to open.
This would bring most people to their knees and they would call it quits. Fortunately, Missy, along with her daughter Kaitlyn, who is expecting Chris's first grandchild in October, and her son Christopher, do not know the meaning of quitting. Chris would not stand for it. All three have a phenomenal work ethic and hate to ask for help of any type, as did Chris. That's where I come in.
I know they are struggling more so than the average American at this time. Chris had a huge, generous heart and willingly helped anyone who needed it. His storefront fed the line workers free of charge, who had to be out in the storms repairing downed wires. He donated food to freezers that were empty when families needed it the most. Mothers were fed for free on Mother's Day and fathers were fed for free on Father's Day. Yes, his business was to earn a living for his family, but he knew all about struggle and he was there for others when they needed it. Now I ask that you do the same for this family. Help them not only with their debt, but to have the money to live on a daily basis. Yes, times are tough for all of us, but even tougher for this family right now.
I ask that you donate to this GoFundMe to help out The Jones Family. Any amount will be helpful. Perhaps you don't feel comfortable adding your credit or debit card online or are a little old fashioned. Then send a personal check or money order made out to "Melissa Ripley" at my address, 12188 Hume Road, Hume, VA 22639. Yes, she will receive it. Put her name on the envelope and I will not even open it. Gift cards to WalMart for groceries or gas cards would be helpful as well. If you do know Missy's mailing address, please send it directly to her, then there is no middle man. Better yet, stop by C&K Processing and give what you can to Missy in person during working hours. Then you have no doubt she received it.
If you are the type to want something for your money, then support their businesses, C&K Processing and The Meat Hook. Deer season is right around the corner and C&K are experts at getting your deer cut up. Chris may no longer be the butcher, but they do have other butchers who worked alongside Chris for years and they will take excellent care of your animal. Hopefully The Meat Hook will open at their new location soon. In the meantime, they are working out of their meat processing location. Check out both businesses on FB to see their locations in Caroline County, VA. Support small, local business. Their meat is so much better than what you get at any grocery store.
Lastly, I ask for prayers, good juju or whatever you believe in. Chris and Missy were together for 25 years. They were soulmates, partners, a team. Their children are young adults who are just now spreading their wings, only to be brought down by their devastating loss. Not only do they need financial help, they also need to find their own peace and comfort during this difficult time. I believe in the power of prayer.
Perhaps you cannot afford to help them financially Please share this GoFundMe others can. Post this daily on FB, as the more it's seen, the more helpful it is. Talk about this post, make it pop up on everyone's wall. I feel so helpless, but this is one way I can help the family.
Please help this family who gives so much to their family, friends and community. Show them how much you care and love generous hearts, as each one of them have one. In due time, they will play it forward, once they get back on stable ground.
Remember to hug your loved ones a little tighter and tell them how much you love them. Time is short, though we don't realize it until it's too late. Thank you for reading and sharing this. Now let's help them out!
