Help Support Baby Easton and the Ezell Family

Our family is reaching out for support for my sister Nina Ezell, her husband Joe, and their sweet daughter Emery as they prepare to welcome their baby boy, Easton.

Recently, Nina and Joe received heartbreaking news — baby Easton’s official diagnosis is pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum.

The intact ventricular septum means the wall that separates the left and right ventricles (the heart’s lower pumping chambers) is a complete structure without a hole.

The pulmonary atresia means the gateway between the right pumping chamber (ventricle) and the pulmonary artery is completely blocked, stopping blood from reaching the lungs to pick up oxygen.

Because of the severity of his condition, Nina has been advised to relocate to Seattle before delivery so she can be close to UW Medical Center, where she will give birth. Immediately after he’s born, Easton will be rushed to Seattle Children’s Hospital, where doctors will perform a cardiac catheterization to place a balloon and stent to open his artery and help his heart function.

A few months later, Easton will need to undergo open-heart surgery to repair his heart. After his first procedure, Nina and Joe will need to remain in Seattle for at least two weeks while Easton recovers. Even after they return home, they will travel to Seattle Children’s weekly for the next year for his ongoing care and monitoring.

This is an incredibly emotional and overwhelming journey for the Ezell family — both as parents and as a family navigating unexpected medical challenges and financial burdens, all while caring for their sweet daughter, Emery.

Funds raised will go directly toward helping them with:

• Temporary housing near UW Medical and Seattle Children’s

• Travel expenses for frequent hospital visits

• Meals and living costs while away from home

• Medical bills and ongoing care for baby Easton
