Gary Enochs' son Zach went into bone marrow failure earlier this year. Amazingly a bone marrow donor was found in March and since then he has been receiving chemo treatments in preparation for the transplant at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. Zach, Gary, and Darlene (Gary’s wife) moved down to Jacksonville and prepared to stay 6-9 months for Zach’s transplant and subsequent treatments.
Since then, they have experienced several set-backs. Zach developed an infection in his portal and had to have it removed and recently he developed a fungal infection in his lungs that will require several months of outpatient treatment. This has delayed the transplant for probably another 6 months, so they are now looking at having to stay in Jacksonville for up to a year.
Currently, Gary is trying to find a house to rent for the next year but so far he hasn’t been successful in securing one. There just aren’t enough houses to keep up with the demand, so Gary has lost several houses he put in applications for.
I worked with Gary for several years until his retirement 2018. Gary supported NASA for 35 years and was the Center Move Coordinator for several years before his retirement. He has always been a good friend to me and many others. I’ve set up this Go Fund Me in the hopes that myself and others can have the opportunity to give back to Gary and his family in this stressful and overwhelming period in their lives. I know that they would greatly appreciate prayers as well.
UPDATE (7/15/19) Gary informed me over the weekend that they found out in a bone marrow biopsy that Zach's leukemia is back. This is a significant set back and he will have to restart chemo treatments while they continue to treat the lung fungus. I'm not sure if this will set back the bone marrow transplant any more. Zach is down to 108 lbs. Please continue to pray for healing. Gary thanks everyone for their support.
