My name is Nevena Guy and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of the Ennis family from Petersfield, a small town in Westmoreland, Jamaica.
When Hurricane Melissa hit, it destroyed everything they owned. Their home where they built their life and raised their child was torn apart. Their small business, which supported their family and served their community, was completely lost as well.
Today, the Ennis family is staying in the Petersfield High School shelter, where conditions are extremely difficult.
There is no electricity, no running water, and very spotty internet. The entire shelter shares one Starlink connection, which makes communication almost impossible. My husband Jerome and I were looking for ways to give back to our beautiful island of Jamaica. When I saw their story on Instagram, I reached out to them directly. Orlando explained that because of the unstable internet and basic living conditions, he hasn’t been able to set up a GoFundMe page on his own.
So I’m doing it for them.
They are starting from nothing.
No home.
No belongings.
No business.
Just hope, resilience, and the will to rebuild.
Your support will help them:
• Rebuild a safe home
• Replace clothing, furniture, and essential items
• Recover their small business so they can support themselves again
• Cover food, transportation, and basic living needs while displaced
A note on trust and legitimacy:
I understand completely that people are hesitant to donate during disasters - sadly, some individuals do take advantage of moments like this.
For transparency, I want to share exactly where I found this family and how you can verify their story for yourself:
• I first learned about the Ennis family through the Instagram page @lexonart, who posted their situation.
• You can also contact the Ennis family directly on WhatsApp at +1 (876) [phone redacted] for confirmation or updates.
This fundraiser is simply my effort to help them because they currently do not have the stable internet or resources to help themselves.
If you feel moved to donate or even share this fundraiser, so it reaches more people you will be helping a real family rebuild their life from the ground up.
On behalf of the Ennis family:
Thank you for your compassion, your kindness, and your prayers.
