Help the Egli Boys Begin a New Chapter
Donation protected
On the evening of Sunday, July 28th, Rachel Egli (28) passed away after a long and painful battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Despite being so young, Rachel was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer - thymic neuroendocrine carcinoma - at the end of 2014, which was met with surgical interventions, as well as years of proton and chemotherapy, and even successful trial therapies that were successful at prolonging her life. Her initial diagnosis was 1-4 years, and this brave and strong woman made it to almost 5 years with her husband Curt, and two young boys Daniel, now 9, and Jesse, who turned 7 years old 2 days after her passing.
After years of putting every effort into supporting and lifting up Rachel while she bravely fought this awful disease, we must now switch our focus to helping this young family begin a new chapter.
The Egli family have endured much hardship over the years, with Curt, a U.S. Army veteran, missing out on much of the children's earlier lives with deployments and training. Now, they have lost their mother. After years bearing witness to her suffering, despite her unwillingness to ever quit or slow down, she lost that fight and we need to help them bounce back and find a new normal.
Long and arduous medical conditions like cancer can also take their toll financially. With no regard for cost, the family has undertaken every life-enhancing and prolonging measure possible to help Rachel fight her cancer. But, there is always a price. The family recently moved closer to MacDill Air Force base where Curt works as a contractor from their home in Brooksville, just north of Tampa. Leaving their first family home has not been an easy decision, but a necessary one. Curt now must bear the burden of carrying two houses until their family home is sold, undertake and do well in school for his undergraduate degree, continue working, while also now unpacking and settling into their new rental before the boys begin a new school in 2 weeks. All of this without his wife - the boys' mother - by his side. The challenges this family faces are greater than anyone should have to bear, so helping them alleviate some of that burden would be amazing.
The boys have had to watch their mother suffer for most of their lives, but they should not have to watch their father suffer trying to begin a new chapter without her. Any help for the family would be greatly appreciated. If monetary donations are not your thing, please reach out to me (Rachel's sister) via email to arrange any other way you would like to help.
Nobody wants to feel helpless, but sometimes we must ask for it in order to survive and thrive.
