Help the Easterling Family Rebuild after Hurricane Helene

Dear Friends and Family,

Hurricane Helene was unlike anything North Carolina has seen before. Weaverville, a small mountain community outside of Asheville, was hit especially hard.

I am writing on behalf of our dear friends, the Easterling family. We are so thankful that Sarah and her three boys, Eden, Inis, and Juno, are safe and well, but their home and property have suffered damage and are not yet inhabitable.

We would like to help lessen the financial burden on them as they repair, replace, and rebuild. A generator is needed for energy, a woodstove insert for heat. Six trees fell on the house and six block the driveway—your donations will help cover the dumpster rental for clean-up and a dehumidifier for the flooded basement, amongst other things.

After the storm, Sarah clocked many miles walking back and forth each day between her mother's house, where they are staying, and her own home. She had watched as a 100-year-old, 80 ft tall oak tree smashed into the car she had saved up to buy just days before the storm, leaving her family with no transportation.

Additionally, the Asheville bakery that she just signed a lease to open, a dream of years, may not have running water for up to six weeks.

Sarah is a generous and loving friend. Fifteen years ago, when my mother died, Sarah spent hours in her kitchen, pouring her love into the box of cookies that she overnighted to my family.

The Easterlings are grateful for the kindness and generosity of their neighbors in Weaverville during their time of need. If you feel moved to give, any amount helps and will go directly to them.
