Help the Dykstra Family Through Tough Times
Donation protected
Hello, it's me, Tammy Norman Linder.
In May of 2022, my niece Julie’s husband, James, was diagnosed with progressive nonfluent Aphasia. The disease is a rapid type of prefrontal dementia, and it has taken a quick course over the last two years. Unfortunately, James has reached the end stages of this fatal disease. He is unable to communicate verbally, has issues swallowing, and he is mostly wheelchair bound. The care needed has increased to a nearly 24/7 effort, and becoming even more of a challenge, as Julie is scheduled to return to her full time teaching job at the end of August.
Julie and James are the best type of people. Married for 22 years, surrounded by a large family and many friends, multiple people testify to the goodness in their hearts. Anyone who knows Julie is not unaware of her unwavering kindness, constant support, and love she gives to all those around her. Julie just recently wrapped up her 20th year as an elementary school teacher. When Julie is not teaching, she cares for her two young children, Sophia (13) and TJ (11). Both children are heavily involved in sports ranging from football to basketball and cheerleading. Julie is constantly ensuring that her children are provided for while also navigating the struggles that have come with the diagnosis.
The aphasia has forced James to cease his work in the field of IT for many years, which he used to discuss with passion. James is a kind-loving father who enjoys watching his children play sports and travel. While the family does have medical insurance, they do not qualify for any type of financial aid, home health care, or nursing facility resources. As one can imagine, the mental, physical, and financial burdens continuously become more difficult.
The money raised will be used to ease the expenses that come with the disease and the necessary care for James, along with any other fees, bills, or needs the family requires. All donations will be given directly to the Dykstra family. Any donation is incredibly appreciated; if you do not have the means to donate, please share their story with your family and friends.
