Hi Friends & Family,
My name is Noelle and I am the daughter of Mark and Laurie Duquette. My dad, Mark, had a stroke in May of 2021 and is still hospitalized at Skyline Medical in Nashville.
His recovery has been incremental but hopeful so far. It's felt like two steps forward, one step back. At this vulnerable stage, Mark requires constant visitation for recuperative and emotional support. We live in Lebanon, TN, about 45 minutes from the hospital (plus Nashville traffic). Along with the daily labor of helping Mark in the hospital and picking up his duties at home, the daily back-and-forth has been wearing on the family. Laurie's paid emergency family leave has just dried up as well, meaning she'll have to return to work in order for the family to have any income. Hospital bills have reached over a million dollars at this point and we are expected to pay 20% with help from insurance.
In addition to hospital bill support we are asking friends and loved ones for financial assistance in renting a hotel room adjacent to the hospital for Laurie to work and sleep in during the week. This would be a huge relief on the family and allow Laurie to return to work remotely while remaining nearby to assist Mark. Due to Covid, visiting hours are quite limited and visitors are not allowed to stay overnight in the hospital.
