Help Larry and Carolyn Dunn Recover from Flood

Donation protected
My name is Steffany, and I'm here with the rest of the Dunn family to ask for any support you can provide our grandparents and aunt who were directly impacted by the major flooding in Douglas County (Southern Oregon) throughout March 16th & 17th. We cannot thank you enough for taking the time to hear our story and request for help from our community.

Anyone who knows Larry and Carolyn Dunn or their daughter, Donna, knows that they aren't quick to ask for anything from anyone. They are givers in nature and in practice, and put the needs of others before their own whenever there is an opportunity to do so. This fund is part of our family's effort to help restore what they have lost and bring a sense of peace and security back into their lives and hearts.

The intense rains over the weekend caused the South Umpqua River to flood most of their neighborhood in Myrtle Creek. Although our grandparents' home is slightly raised, it was flooded with more than 6 inches of water. Just across the street, our aunt Donna's house had more than 3 feet of water flowing through it on Sunday. We are eternally grateful that everyone was able to get out of the neighborhood safely.

Donna, thankfully, has flood insurance, but could use support until any assistance kicks in. Unfortunately, our grandparents don't have flood insurance and will have to pay for repairs out of pocket. Any financial support you're able to provide will help fund:

  • Food and lodging expenses while our family cannot live in their homes
  • Proper equipment to remove water and start drying, cleaning, and sanitizing
  • Electrical, water, and HVAC systems and structural repairs
  • Flooring, drywall, furniture and appliance repairs/replacements

We are hoping to get our family back into their homes in the next week and sincerely appreciate your support in helping us achieve that goal. We are relieved to say that the water level has receded and our family and their neighbors have started removing waste and assessing damage, but it will be a long and intensive project driven by community support in all forms.

Anyone who grew up in the Colfax area knows (and has likely lived) the expression: "it takes a village." Our family has been part of that village for so many people and, as hard as it is to ask for money, we are hoping our village will come together to help provide for our family members when they need it most.

We know times are hard, and your love and prayers are just as welcome as any monetary support. We are so grateful for our family's health and safety, and wish the same for you and yours.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

The Dunn Family
