Greetings!
I’m not used to being on this side of the fundraising, but here we are.
My name is Hollie, and I’m an audiobook narrator by trade. Along with my husband/producer Jack, I’ve been working in the industry for the past 9 years, 8 of which have been spent in the house we are currently renting. I’ve got an extensive portfolio, and just recently signed a contact with a publisher that will guarantee me steady work for the next few years.
A week ago, we received notice that our landlady wants to sell the house, as is her right, and she gave us until February 28th to find a new place.
And therein lies the problem.
The week of Thanksgiving 2021 (not even 2 months ago), I was suddenly hospitalized with a severe case of pancreatitis (brought on by a rare drug side effect). When I was finally released, I was completely unable to work, and as many of you are already aware, no work=no incoming funds.
As a result, we were having to burn through our savings to make sure bills were paid and we were fed until I was finally able to get back in the booth, and we rang out the old year with a huge medical bill (over 26k).
And that’s where we are now. The last time we moved, it was expensive not because of needing movers (which we will most certainly need this time), but the first/last/deposit/fees stacked up insanely fast. Were we given a chance to actually get some funds back in (something that will take, easily 3 months if we count in having to keep paying everything we already are monthly) I wouldn’t be asking for your help now.
But I am. We are. Open rentals are sparse in the area, and I’m expanding my search out as far as I can, but before I can make any other plans, I need to secure a place. And for that…I did a low guesstimate based on available listings, potential mover costs, and other sundry fees.
If you can donate, we’d be so grateful. If you can’t and all you can do is boost the signal? Please do. The past couple of years have been rough on everyone and we’ve been taking our hits, but I’ve finally realized this isn’t going to happen without help.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for your time.
Warmly,
Hollie
