Help the Dogs of the Dominican!

Hello, I am Belinda Morrison, Founder of CB Rescue Foundation. My rescue has been rescuing dogs for over 14 years now. We rescue from Calgary, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and anywhere a dog needs help. My husband and I went on vacation 8 years ago to the Dominican Republic. We brought supplies down for a rescue there. We saw how they had little to no help, so we knew we could help them! We have brought many dogs to Canada from all over including the Dominican. Unfortunately, there is an import ban from the Canadian Food and Inspection Agency (CFIA) regarding the importation of dogs from 113 countries coming into Canada. This means rescues like ours cannot bring dogs into Canada which is considered commercial. This means the dogs in the Dominican are suffering even more. The shelters are full of dogs that need help! My husband and I bought land from our own personal funds two years ago in the Dominican Republic, we have spent thousands of our own personal funds over the years to keep CB Rescue afloat. Part of the land will be used to help the dogs. We will build 3 tiny homes, around 260 square feet each. These are just the shells of the house. We will also build a doggie wading pool and 6 kennels equipped with everything the dogs need including hurricane-proof kennels, and a outside area. One of the homes will be for the shelter manager who will stay 24 hours with the dogs. The other two tiny houses will be for people to come, stay, play, bathe, walk and socialize the dogs. Who knows, maybe fall in love with a new family member. Each house is estimated at $12,500 US Dollars. The wading pool and kennels will be an added expense on top of that, but we know that getting the tiny homes in place will save more dogs and get them off the streets. Dominican Republic is an island and it is more expensive to build here, as everything is shipped in and the currency here is in US dollars.
