Hi, I’m Bri the owner, founder and heart behind The Dog BRIgade YYC.

A few years ago, I started caring for pets through Rover in my small Sunalta apartment. It wasn't much, but with all the love provided, it was still a great place to leave pets! What began as a side passion quickly became a full-time mission. Working at a larger pet facility for a short period in 2024 helped me realize how many animals need more than a daily walk or a kennel stay they deserve calm, understanding, and a safe space to just be. I had a gift for it. So I gave it everything I had.

Eventually, I moved into a dedicated home that allowed The Dog BRIgade to truly flourish. That space was more than a home, it became a peaceful haven for dogs with anxiety, disabilities, trauma, or special medical needs. It was quiet, safe, cage-free, and full of love. I was able to coordinate and throw parties and celebrations for the dog, like our most recent Stampede Splash event, or our highly anticipated Doggy Easter Egg Hunt.

However recently, because of the sudden end of a long-term relationship and engagement, I have lost access to that home and was forced to leave with very little notice. I’m being careful with the details because of legal considerations, but I can say that the loss my home was not mutual or planned. It was extremely devastating and sudden, it has harmed me both personally and professionally. My entire business became built around that space where I had dedicated many hours landscaping the yard to make it more grassy and enjoyable to the dogs. Painting walls, having new fence put in, and adding new equipment to keep things fun and fresh.. I invested what I made back into the business and the home.

I’ve luckily secured a temporary space where I can safely regroup with my own pets. But I can’t continue operations here. For the first time in years, The Dog BRIgade is temporarily on pause.

This fundraiser is how, I'm hoping, I’ll rebuild.

I’m raising funds to secure a new pet-friendly home where I can restart services — whether through a lease, a sublet that allows in-home care, or even the start of a future down payment. I’m exploring every option, but time is short. My goal is to find a stable base by late August or early September (when there is not place arranged for myself or my beloved fur babes to stay), and begin rebuilding from there. Stronger, bigger, and freer than ever.

I know this model works. I’ve seen countless fearful dogs come right out of their shells with me. I’ve helped terminally ill pets spend their time away from home with dignity and comfort. I’ve supported grieving owners, medicated diabetic cats, and helped puppies take their first safe steps in the world.

I’ve worked endlessly to make The Dog BRIgade something special and I believe with your help, I can bring it back bolder than ever.
