Help the Distinguished Don on his journey to recovery!

Thank you for taking your time to read this. On September 17th, my father (Don) went to Urgent Care as he just wasn’t feeling right. The provider assumed it was some sort of virus and sent him home. That following Thursday, Don had a severe headache and wasn’t able to sleep, so Friday he and my mom went back to Urgent Care. Thankfully, the provider urged him to go to the Emergency Department for further testing. After a CT, it was determined that Don had a subdural hematoma, which is bleeding between the brain and skull. He was moved to the ICU. The amount of blood was literally squishing his brain. He was struggling with speech and motor skills. On Sunday, September 22nd, Don had a craniotomy where a piece of his skull was removed to drain the blood and remove the clot, then replaced and is now held together with titanium plates. Thankfully, the procedure was a success, and he was moved off of critical watch on Tuesday, September 24th, and was finally moved to another wing in the hospital to receive continued medical care, physical therapy (PT), and occupational therapy (OT).
On Friday, September 27th, Don was relocated to a residential rehabilitation center for continued PT and OT. He has been doing amazing but is looking forward to going home!
On Monday, October 7th, he finally gets to go home and stay at the house with my mom!!! He has been so grateful for all the wonderful care and treatment he has received but is definitely looking forward to continuing his recovery journey in the comfort of his own home. Don will continue to receive OT and PT either in his home or at a clinic.
My mother has been amazing through all of this. She has stayed positive and has been with him almost all day of every day at the hospital and rehabilitation center since Friday, September 20th. She will continue to be his primary support at home.
All funds raised will go towards medical bills. I’m hoping to help reduce some of the financial stress of this long journey so my parents can focus on my dad’s recovery. Anything will be appreciated, especially re-sharing of this through text or social media. You are appreciated!
