Help the Dirt Bags get Dirty!

Dear All!
I will be solo thru-hiking Vermont's 272 mile Long Trail this June-July. I am using this as an opportunity to raise money to get my high school students into the outdoors!
First let's talk about The Dirt Bags
The Dirt Bags are the members of the Outdoors Club I created along side some very passionate high school students who have a deep desire to be outside exploring. Whether it be by hiking, overnight camping trips, snow shoeing or paddling; this young people want to be doing it!

Our school is located in North Eastern Vermont, sandwiched between the White Mountain National Forest of New Hampshire and the Green Mountain National Forest of Vermont, with thousands of acres of State Forest at our fingertips as well.
The goal of this club is to allow all students, no matter their experience level or financial background, to get outside and learn about themselves, their peers and the natural world.
This motley crew is made up of student athletes, artists, actors, writers, hunters, international dorm students and 5th generation Vermonters! Our focus is to be stewards to our land, push ourselves mentally and physically, and have a blast doing it!
What we have accomplished so far
The 2018-2019 school year was our first step as a club! We met weekly to pour over maps, discuss conditions, plan trips and divvy up responsibilities prior to heading out on the trail or the water.
The Dirt Bags are a crew and all of the students are responsible to be part of the planning and execution of each excursion. So far we have done multiple after school hikes and weekend day trips. We have done two overnights, both in some impressive conditions!

Why The Dirt Bags need your help
Northeastern Vermont is rich in opportunities to explore mountains and lakes however our club lacks the resources to supply all students with sufficient gear to get into the outdoors. As many of you know, in Vermont the weather can be perilous. To enjoy the outdoors responsibly all members of the Dirt Bag crew must have the appropriate clothing and camping gear.
To fulfill our mission of making this club available to all students, not just those who can afford the nice outdoor supplies, we desperately need funding to invest in things like sleeping bags, tents, rain coats, boots, tarps, cook stoves, pot kits, head lamps, and other camping necessities.

What will be done with your donation
Every dollar donated to this fundraiser will go directly to support getting my high school students into the outdoors. The first purchases I will make will be the most needed by my students: sleeping bags and tents. I will then use the rest of the budget to purchase major group items like cook stoves, pot kits, tarps and headlamps. Any remaining budget will be invested in keeping a lending locker filled with coats, boots, hats, etc.
As an experienced backpacker and Dirt Bag, I will be spending this money wisely, seeking out opportunities for pro-deals and gently used gear.
What I am doing to motivate you to donate
I'M SOLO THRU HIKING THE LONG TRAIL, LIKE A TRUE DIRT BAG! These students work hard to pull together these trips and I am dedicating every step I take from June 19 to July 9 to them! The Long Trail is America's first thru-hike and is 272 miles of rugged, bug infested terrain that I cannot wait to get my boots on!
These students and this club inspire me every day and I want to give back by providing them with the tools that will allow them to go further than they ever expected!
