Help the Dirks Family Adjust After Loss

Donation protected
My beloved Father, David Dirks, passed away suddenly on July 4th, 2025. My father was my rock, my best friend, a weirdo like me. This man was always so strong and so full of life, then about 10 years ago he started having problems with his heart. Multiple stents, a few problems within the heart, then we found out that he was born with only one kidney. After a few years his only kidney was in Stage 4 Renal Failure. He was put on dialysis four days a week.
After undergoing a surgery a few years ago, he started to lose muscle in his legs so they were just getting weaker and weaker. It's is crazy to watch someone who you always thought was strong like a stone statue crumble. He would fall if he wasn't holding onto a walker or the wall. He couldn't stand some days.
My father was at dialysis today, chatting with some of the people and staff when he just slumped over. The man he was talking to said, Did you fall asleep? The staff looked over and went to get him laid on the floor and called EMS and started CPR. In a blink of an eye my father was gone. They did 60 minutes of CPR from the time he collapsed to the time they called his death. A massive heart attack had taken him.
He had decided to donate his body to Baylor University for research. He was also a donor so his Corneas will be donated to some who needs them. He is our hero.
He leaves behind, the woman who had his heart for more than 30 years, Terri, his two daughters Stephanie and Kimberly, Godson Jason, son in law Kris and the light of his life Granddaughter Krista. Sisters Diane and Kathy. So many friends and family to mention.
We are just asking for donations to help us with cremation costs, and just to help us with some everyday things and bills for a little bit as we adjust to a new norm.
David was well lived and will be sorely missed by those who knew him.
Thank you for reading about my amazing father. My rock. My twin.
The Dirks Family.
