Help the Cutshaws Rebuild After Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
How can you help WNC from the devastation of Hurricane Helene? We can help one family at a time. Kevin and (Stacey) Rene Cutshaw (Fletcher NC) have been foster parents for over 10 years, adopted 3 foster sons, and are in the process of adopting a little fireball one-year-old girl. They currently have another foster son with them and most weekends keep a previous foster daughter (six kids!!!). Kevin is employed by SunBelt, and Rene is a teacher's assistant at Edneyville Elementary. They are active members of Fruitland Baptist Church. Rene is a board member and staff for Camp GLOW Inc. and volunteers at the Carolina Baptist Association "Bethlehem Toy Store" each year. Their heart is for children in foster care, and their home is their mission field.
They are currently in a rental because their house is uninhabitable due to Helene damage, but they still have to pay the mortgage, etc., while it sits waiting for repairs. They have roof damage, HVAC damage, ceiling damage, foundation damage, septic issues, mold inside, and cannot go home until renovations are complete. They have received $23,000 from their insurance, $159 from FEMA with an initial renovation quote of over $70,000, which did not include septic repairs or HVAC repair. The Baptists on Mission have ripped out damaged carpet and flooring, done a tear-out of the mold locations in the walls and ceiling, and have tarped the roof. They have appealed the FEMA decision, but must move forward with renovations. Please pray for the Cutshaws and please give financially to make their home better than ever so they can continue to parent those who need a home. If you can help, big or small, please do. A little bit from all of us adds up. Thank you and GOD bless.
(I am Gloria "Glo" Jackson, a retired Henderson County NC Sheriff's Deputy who was Rene's DARE Officer when she was 10 years old, and I have known her for 30 years. I have watched this family pour out love over and over to foster children - serving as foster parents for around 25 children. I have personally visited their home after Helene, seen the damage, and also have pictures and documentation of price quotes from contractors, letters from FEMA and insurance, etc. This family cannot go home until repairs are complete and the home is inspected and deemed safe for foster children by the Department of Social Services.}
