Help the Curtis Family after Total Home Destruction
Donation protected

Chris and Jeanie Curtis, along with their children Theo (10) and Honey (7), need our help after losing their home and nearly all their belongings to Hurricane Helene. During the storm, a centuries-old oak tree collapsed onto their house in Asheville, NC, crashing through the roof above their bedrooms while the family was inside. Jeanie was severely injured, bleeding from her neck. As rain poured into their home, destroying their belongings, Chris, Theo, and Honey attempted to stop the bleeding but couldn’t. Miraculously, despite blocked roads and heavy rain, they managed to get Jeanie to the hospital, where doctors finally stopped the bleeding. She has since made a full recovery, but the emotional and physical toll has been immense.
The house was completely destroyed—rocked off its foundation and ultimately deemed a total loss. The family is now displaced, living in a short-term rental. Chris and Jeanie bought their home over a decade ago when property was much more affordable. Now, rebuilding costs have skyrocketed, with quotes doubling or tripling their original mortgage, which they had been paying down for years.
To make matters worse, Chris has seen his income as a wine salesman declined due to many restaurants in his territory closing after the hurricane. Despite these hardships, the Curtis family has remained resilient, though they are in desperate need of support.
This loving, community-minded family has always been there for others in need—now it’s our turn to help them. We’re hoping to raise $5,000 to help replace essential items like appliances, furniture, and clothing and give them a small push toward recovery. If the roles were reversed, they’d be the first to pitch in for someone else. Let’s show them the kindness they’ve always shared with others.
Thank you for your support,
