Dear friends and family,
As some of you already know, these past couple of months have been extraordinarily challenging. In late August, my wife Katy had a seizure out of nowhere and was diagnosed with epilepsy. For an entire month, we were faced with incredible obstacles, extended hospital stays, and life-threatening emergencies. Then, her symptoms worsened and things got increasingly more difficult. I took a leave from work and school to help take care of the kids (Avery 5, Mason 1), the dogs ( JoJo and Cora), and my wife while she was in critical care. Thankfully, in October, she underwent surgery to remove a teratoma on her ovary that ended up saving her life. After a long battle, she's finally back home with me, the kids, and our two dogs.
However, the challenging journey we're on is far from over. Katy has a rare condition called NMDA encephalitis and is facing a lifetime of treatment and doctor visits. We are still in recovery mode here and will be for a while. As our family's life was on pause during this time, everyday activities never stopped, and as our bills pile up, I'm at a loss as to how we can make it through this. While my family and friends have stepped in so I can return to work and school, I still very much need help.
Many of you have already reached out with kindness, support, and assistance, and for that, I am forever grateful.
