It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news that our dear friend, co-founder, and Chief Operations Officer, Matt Clark, has been diagnosed with terminal stage IV cancer.

This heartbreaking diagnosis comes during an unimaginably difficult time for the Clark family. In the past two weeks, Matt’s father passed away, and his wife Maura was unexpectedly laid off from her job, all while they continue caring for their two young children and preparing for Matt’s end-of-life care. Doctors are doing everything possible to help Matt return home to spend his remaining time surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Matt’s impact on the basketball community is profound. As a co-founder of JUCO Advocate and the primary architect of Verbal Commits, Matt poured his heart, time, and brilliance into building tools that have changed the lives of thousands of athletes across every level of basketball. His work opened doors, created opportunities, and helped shape the modern recruiting landscape. Even if you’ve never met or heard of Matt, his fingerprints are on every success story connected to these platforms.

Now, it’s our turn to give back.

The road ahead for the Clark family is incredibly difficult. As a community that Matt helped build, we are coming together to support Maura and their children, to help them navigate the financial and emotional challenges ahead, and to honor the legacy of a man whose work has inspired so many.
