Help the City of Jerome Police Department Get a K9

Yes, you read that correctly.

We're trying to get a police dog.

And because apparently police dogs aren't free (we checked), we're asking our community, and the internet, for some help.

A properly trained K9 would be an incredible addition to the City of Jerome Police Department, assisting our officers with tracking, locating missing and endangered people, detecting narcotics, recovering evidence, and keeping our community and officers safer.

We originally started accepting donations through Venmo on Facebook, but apparently there are still people living among us who don't use Venmo.

So… people demanded that we made a GoFundMe.

Here's the serious part.

Donations will help cover the costs of obtaining and maintaining a professional law enforcement K9, including the dog, training, equipment, veterinary care, food, transportation, and other program expenses.

Here's the JPD part.

We have absolutely no idea what happens when we tell our Facebook followers, “Let's buy a police dog.”

Maybe nothing.

Maybe we raise enough for a really nice leash.

Or maybe the internet collectively loses its mind and we actually pull this off.

We know. We said we'd avoid another fundraising adventure that could turn into a Flock-level comment section situation.

But here we are.

Because underneath all the jokes, we genuinely believe a K9 would make a tremendous difference for the City of Jerome.

And if this actually works?

Well…

Jerome PD is getting a dog.

We'd say that's a pretty good use of the internet.
