In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 2, the Ararat River overflowed its banks, causing devastating flooding throughout Mount Airy. Among the businesses impacted was The Chop Shop Barber & Shave, where floodwaters caused significant damage, destroying the barbers' essential tools and damaging the flooring throughout the shop.
Jessica and the barbers have been temporarily displaced and are operating from a temporary location while repairs are completed and the building is inspected and cleared for reopening.
While this has been an incredibly difficult experience, they recognize that many of their fellow small businesses and neighbors throughout Mount Airy suffered even greater losses. They are deeply grateful for the overwhelming kindness, prayers, encouragement, and support the community has shown in the days since the flood. The way Mount Airy has come together to help one another has been a powerful reminder of the strength and compassion that define this community.
Donations to this fundraiser will help replace the barbers' essential tools, repair the damaged flooring, and cover other flood-related recovery expenses. Any funds remaining after The Chop Shop Barber & Shave's recovery needs have been met will be used to assist other local businesses affected by the flooding, helping them rebuild alongside the rest of the community.
Every donation, no matter the size, is sincerely appreciated. If you're unable to give, sharing this fundraiser is another meaningful way to help.
From the bottom of their hearts, Jessica and the entire team at The Chop Shop Barber & Shave thank you for your generosity, your encouragement, and for standing together with your neighbors during this difficult time. Your support is helping not only one business recover, but also strengthening the entire Mount Airy community as it rebuilds together.
