Help the Chidester Family get back on their feet

Hi, my name is Erin Turner and I’m raising money for our best friends Jeri Brooke and Chris Chidester. For over 10 years they were our neighbors on Emma Drive in Lafayette, but not just our neighbors. They were our other half. They are as dear to us as our own flesh and blood. They are Godparents to our youngest son and are precious to us.

Chris and Jeri Brooke moved to South Carolina shortly before we moved to Tennessee which meant we’d be only 3 hrs from them instead of 12. We have spent countless weekends with them and their three sweet boys since we’ve all moved. Until the beginning of this year they were close enough we could visit frequently, but over the holidays Jeri Brooke lost her amazing mama to cancer (she lost her Dad a few years back) and they moved into her mama’s house in Houma.

Not long after moving back to the house, she grew up in, her Daddy’s garage in their yard caught fire, and all their stuff from South Carolina that was in storage in there was destroyed.

They overcame with grace.  They are the best kind of people. Always grateful for the good things.

The house is raised on 16’ piers and they hunkered down for Hurricane Ida. Not long into this Monster of a storm, the roof was COMPLETELY ripped off. Their home and all their belongings and all the belongings of her parents that were still in the home are gone. Destroyed. Cannot be replaced. For the remainder of the storm they hid in the elevator room with their kids and Chris’ dad and family they had with them to ride out the storm, on the bottom floor and we prayed and prayed for their safety. We finally heard from someone they are okay! Praise be to God!

Their things cannot be saved and they are just things, but this and what they have suffered over the past year is just so much devastation.

I’m sure they’ll file with insurance, but that is often a long-drawn-out process and I know they could use some encouragement, light, and love. If you can find it in your heart to help them out, I know they would appreciate it. All funds will go directly to Chris and Jeri Brooke. This is NOT a fundraiser for a non-profit. It is a donation to a family in need.
