Help the Cerruti Family Overcome ALS Struggles

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to ask for help for my sister in law, Alexandra Cerruti, and her family. Two years ago, Alex was diagnosed with ALS, and since then, life has changed in ways none of us could have imagined. Her mobility has declined so much that she can’t move around on her own or help care for her son, Magnus, the way she wants to. It’s devastating and completely heartbreaking to watch.

Through all of this, Alex, her husband Jonathan, and Magnus just want to live as normal of a life as possible. Magnus adores his mom - she is his entire world. Right now, he doesn’t fully understand what’s happening, and we just want to give him as much time and as many happy moments with her as possible.

Why We’re Asking for Help

Doctors have given a timeline of 2-5 years, but we’re holding on to hope for many more years with Alex. That being said, the road ahead is going to be incredibly tough, and she needs more help than ever.

Jon has been doing everything - caring for Alex full-time, raising Magnus, and trying to hold everything together. But he’s just one person, and he’s starting to need help too. They applied for In-Home Support Services (IHSS) but were denied, meaning they have no access to the state funded care that could help ease the burden. At the same time, paying out of pocket for a caregiver just isn’t financially possible. Jon is also struggling to find a job that allows him to be there for his family while keeping them afloat.
