Help the Castillo Blanco family rebuild their home

My name is Marie Graven, I am assisting a wonderful family who was hit HARD by Helene. William and Nancy Castillo and their 4 children (Angel 10, Pablo Blanco 6, Jaden Blanco 3, Catalina-turning 2 on Dec 6th) woke up the morning of Sept 25th, 2024 with more rain and wind then they could imagine. There was water pouring down the mountain behind their home, this water turned into a landslide full of trees and mud, and it all was flowing right towards them.

They loaded the kids into the car for safety. The water started flowing through their home, destroying all of their possessions. Nancy got stuck in the mud trying to divert it from their house.

They have been denied home insurance due to it coming from a flood. This house is high on the side of a mountain, no one would have considered buying flood insurance.

They are now trying to rebuild their home while taking care of 4 kids, living in a hotel, and also trying to work to have an income. They will need to leave the hotel on Dec 3rd, just days before their youngest turns 2, with nowhere to live.

They have been hesitant to ask for help as they have heard so many folks who have made fraudulent accounts, but this family is legit! I have seen them both working to help other families while also needing to rebuild their own home. Volunteers have been helping rebuild, for which they are grateful, and their need is very high. Any help is appreciated!

*I met this family through a volunteer organization in Swannanoa. Our children go to the same school and they live less than 1/2 mile from my home.
