Help the Cannon's after Erica's accident

Hi, my name is Erica Cannon, and I’m married to Gabriel Cannon. We have three amazing boys - Jayce, Mathias, and Zahaire. I’m writing this with a heavy heart, but also with hope and faith in community. Might you be able to help in this very difficult season?

At the end of March, I was involved in a very severe car accident. A young woman who was texting while driving slammed into me. The impact was so intense that my car was completely totaled. She only had PIP coverage (the bare minimum required by the state of Florida) which doesn’t begin to cover the damages. My car was a 2007, and insurance gave almost nothing to replace it.

By the grace of God, I survived with a concussion and two herniated discs. It could’ve been so much worse. But the recovery has been hard and will be a long road, filled with therapy, pain management, and lots of appointments.

That car was a lifeline for our family. I used it to get to my boys to therapy and to do my work in ministry as an Area Director for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. I travel to college campuses to support students, and without a second vehicle it is difficult.

This year has been challenging as two of our boys have been diagnosed with special needs (autism and dyslexia). With little help from the state, this has added considerably to our family budget and has made it very difficult to save for a new car.

With my husband working forty minutes away our family needs two cars to accommodate my work, doctor and PT visits as well as taking our boys for their appointments. We have been renting week to week and after the insurance only covered two weeks of rentals this has also been a drain on our family budget.

We are raising funds specifically to purchase a reliable car for our family. Every dollar will go directly toward getting us back on the road and helping us continue to care for our family and do the work we’re called to do.
