Support the Byrds After Eaton Fire Loss
Donation protected
The Byrd family lost their home in the Eaton fire in Altadena, California, in the early morning of Wednesday, January 8th. They owned this home for 39 years, raised their children there, and never intended to leave. This home meant the world to them. This unexpected tragedy has left them without a home, without their personal belongings, and without a clear path forward. The parents living in the house at the time, Paula and Phil, are in their late 60s and early 70s and are semi-retired with a small dog. Phil is a veteran who has served his country, and both he and Paula have been public servants in their community for many years, with deep ties to Altadena. They are currently staying in a hotel for the next few days and are looking for more permanent housing after that. Their daughter is helping them navigate insurance claims, finding a new permanent place to live, and all the challenges that come with those processes.
The funds will be used to cover essential living costs not covered by other disaster relief aid or insurance. We will update this page as we get additional information and more specific needs become clear, but we know this journey will be a long one.
Please give what you can (any amount helps) to support this wonderful and generous family. This is something that no family should ever have to go through and one that no one ever sees coming. It will be a long road to recoup what was lost, not to mention the mental burden and trauma that comes with losing a home of 40 years overnight. If we can alleviate just a fraction of the financial burden for them, it would make a great impact and be hugely appreciated.
Note required by GoFundMe for transparency: My name is Jordan Salviati, and I live in Alhambra, CA. The Byrds’ daughter, Danielle, is my best friend, and I have known the family for about 12 years.
