Help the Byrd Family Replace What Was Lost After a Devastating Fire

My best friend Mariah Byrd, her daughters Ivy and Sasa, and her father Leonard Byrd just lost their home and nearly everything they own in a devastating house fire.

Mariah and the girls barely made it out safely, having to crawl beneath the smoke to escape. They got out without even having shoes on their feet. Leonard, who is 75, was also able to escape safely.

We are beyond grateful that they are all alive, but everything happened so suddenly that they were left with almost nothing.

School starts in just two days, and Ivy and Sasa lost all of the things they had just gotten ready for the new school year — backpacks, school supplies, clothes, shoes, and everyday necessities.

Their birthdays are also this week, and the presents, decorations, and special things that had been purchased for them were all lost in the fire.

Mariah also lost her purse, debit cards, car key fob, clothing, shoes, toiletries, and personal belongings. Leonard lost his phone and all his belongings that he has had for so many years of a wonderful life.

This family means so much to our community. Leonard has lived in this home for decades and has been a pillar of our community, coaching local teams and giving so much of his time to children and families over the years. Mariah also coaches and continues that same tradition of showing up for others.

Right now, our goal is simply to help take some of the immediate stress off their shoulders and replace the things they need most.

Donations will help with new backpacks and school supplies, school clothes and shoes, everyday clothing, toiletries, replacement phones, Mariah’s car key fob, food and other immediate necessities, as well as helping replace some of Ivy and Sasa’s birthday gifts and decorations so they can still feel celebrated during an incredibly difficult week.

They have a long road ahead, but right now we want to make sure these girls can walk into school with what they need and that this family doesn’t have to figure out every immediate expense alone.
