My name is Rich Wolfred, better known as Coach Rich, and I have been privileged to coach hundreds of young people in the sport of swimming for more than 40 years. On the morning of December 1st, I received a call from a former swimmer that I could have never imagined. I was told that Justin Burton's life was taken from him in an instant just hours after his 30th birthday. He was a victim of gun violence and due to the nature of the ongoing investigation, we do not have much more detail than that. It has been covered by local news if you want to learn more about the incident that occurred in Fishers.

When I asked Justin's former teammates from Noblesville High School to share words that came to mind when they remember him, they shared the following: LOYAL, DEDICATED, DETERMINED, JOYOUS, PASSIONATE, SELFLESS, FRIENDLY, HARD WORKING, A GOOD BROTHER, A SUPPORTIVE TEAMMATE.

Justin was a late bloomer in the sport of swimming, but he was 100% dedicated to the sport once he committed to it. And his personality was LARGE. He was outgoing and funny. I told him when he graduated that he was going to go places.

Now, in this time of shock and grief, I am asking for his community to help support his family as they manage the unexpected expenses for his memorial and burial as well as upcoming legal expenses that may come as a part of this tragedy. His mother, Susan, his two sisters, and brother are beyond devastated and we are doing all we can to support them during this unimaginable time.

It is our goal to raise $25,000 to relieve a bit of the stress for the Burton family. We appreciate anything you can share in this effort.
