Jimmy Burkey is currently at the Cleveland Clinic on life support.  Jimmy contracted COVID-19 and is one of the unfortunate one's who has been unable to recover.

Jimmy was taken to Medina General at the beginning of April.  He was immediately life flighted to the Cleveland Clinic main campus.  He spent 3 weeks on a ventilator in a medically induced coma.  After being weened off of the ventilator, he was slowly making progress in the right direction.  He was able to eat and began walking short distances.

Saturday, May 8th, he developed pneumonia.  Sunday the 9th he was placed back on the ventilator. Tuesday the 11th he was placed on ECMO, a machine that circulates and oxygenates the blood for him because his heart and lungs are no longer able to do so.

The damage to his lungs is severe enough that he needs a transplant.  This is the reality, not a hypothetical. 

All of us that are close Jimmy know that he is a hard worker at Cleveland Cliffs as a millwright who loves and takes great care of Bonnie, Sylvia, and LJ.  He is very involved in Sylvia and LJ's sports at Buckeye.  

Jimmy is fighting for his life and his recovery will not be short term or easy.  If you are able to contribute, please do.  Every little bit helps.
