They Gave 5 Children a Home—Now They’re Fighting To Keep Theirs

I never imagined I would be writing something like this for my sister—but right now, her family is at risk of losing the very home they fought so hard to build for five children who needed it.

My name is Tania Kirk, and I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my sister and the Bunch family because they are in a place where they truly cannot carry this alone anymore.

For nearly 19 years, my sister and her husband have built a life rooted in faith, love, and sacrifice. About six years ago, they opened their home to foster children—stepping into a calling that most people would never have the courage to take on. Then, just over two years ago, they adopted all five children they had been caring for, making them a permanent part of their family.

Their home is filled with love—but also constant, around-the-clock needs.

Their oldest son is 16, but mentally he is closer to a toddler. He has Down syndrome, severe autism, and is nonverbal. He requires full-time care. Recently, they began noticing his heart skipping beats more frequently. Multiple healthcare professionals have now heard the irregular rhythm, and he is currently under the care of a cardiologist. They are in the middle of ongoing testing, waiting for answers while continuing to care for him every single day.

Their 8-year-old daughter is bravely working through a history of severe trauma, and their three younger children—ages 6, 5, and 3—depend on them completely for stability, care, and love.

And then, just months ago, another crisis hit.

My brother-in-law—the sole provider for their family—ended up in the emergency room with a serious medical issue. After further testing, doctors found three growths on his prostate. Two are highly suspected to be cancer.

Since then, everything has felt like it’s piling on at once.

After much prayer and deep conviction, they chose to pursue a natural path to healing. This has required major lifestyle changes, out-of-pocket expenses, and daily commitment—all while continuing to care for five children with significant needs.

But what is pushing them to the edge right now is their housing situation.

Before fostering and adopting, they lived in a fully paid-off home. But to make room for the children, they made the difficult decision to sell it and purchase a larger five-bedroom home.

Since then, it has felt like a sinking ship.

Within the first year, pipes burst under the house and had to be replaced. Mold issues in the crawl space—something they were told had been fixed—have continued to cause problems and even affect their health. The home itself, built on an older foundation, has created ongoing challenges with insurance.

Now, for the second time, their homeowners insurance is being dropped—and as of May 9th, they are at risk of having no coverage at all.

The quotes they are receiving now are overwhelming. What used to cost around $2,800–$3,000 a year is now coming back at over $5,000. That alone could push their monthly mortgage from around $2,000 to $2,500 or more—something they simply cannot afford.

At the same time, medical bills continue to add up. Even with insurance, they are left paying hundreds out of pocket for testing. They had worked so hard to build financial stability—paying off debt, following a plan, building an emergency fund—but that fund is now completely gone.

They are doing everything they can… and still falling behind.

They are exhausted. They are overwhelmed. And yet, they continue to show up for their children with love, patience, and strength every single day.

They would never ask for this kind of help themselves—but I will.

How Funds Will Help

We are setting this goal to give them a real chance to stabilize during this crisis:

* $2,000/month – Mortgage to keep their home
* $5,000+ annually – Urgent home insurance (coverage at risk by May 9th)
* Medical costs – Ongoing testing, appointments, and out-of-pocket expenses
* Basic living needs – Groceries, utilities, and care for five children

This goal is meant to carry them through the most critical months ahead. Any support beyond that gives them a chance not just to survive—but to truly regain stability.

If there is a larger miracle that comes from this—whether it’s long-term stability or even relief from the weight of their mortgage—it would change their lives. But right now, the immediate need is simply to stay afloat.

If you can give, even a small amount, it will make a real and immediate difference.

If you can’t give, please consider sharing. That alone helps more than you know.

The Bunch family has spent years pouring into children who needed a home, love, and stability. Now they need others to come around them and help carry them through one of the hardest seasons of their lives.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Yahweh bless!
