For the past 18 years, Lieutenant Jim Buie and his wife, Cynthia, have dedicated their lives to serving the Stoney Point community wholeheartedly. As a Volunteer Firefighter, EMT, and Rescue Technician, Jim has always been on the front lines, ready to protect and support those in need. Cynthia, with her unwavering commitment, served on the auxiliary, and together, they instilled the same spirit of service in their daughter, who joined the auxiliary as a teenager.

Their dedication extended beyond daily duties; Jim and Cynthia played pivotal roles in our annual "Trail of Terror" fundraiser, ensuring that the Stoney Point Volunteer Fire Department not only maintained but enhanced its mission of public safety. Their love for the community has been evident in every action they've taken, always prioritizing the safety and well-being of others.

Sadly, the tables have turned, and now it's our turn to support them. Jim has been diagnosed with multiple forms of cancer, a battle that has rendered him unable to work and provide for his family. Cynthia, in turn, has devoted herself to caring for Jim during this challenging time. The mounting medical expenses associated with his critical treatment have placed an overwhelming financial burden on their family.

Just last week, Jim was sent home from the hospital with palliative care, a stark reminder of the challenges they now face. As they navigate this difficult journey, we, as a community, have the opportunity to give back to a family that has given so much to us.
