My name is Angela Beekman and I am a friend and church family member to the Brunswick Family in Nebraska. Ben and Rachel have 4 very young children and have been gifted with serving hearts - always willing to help others in whatever way they can but most especially with prayer and faithfulness.
At the end of February, Ben experienced a seizure that led to the discovery of a brain tumor. After several days in the hospital and a biopsy, it was revealed that he has “Astrocytoma.” The final pathology results show that it is a Grade 2 cancerous tumor. Surgical removal is currently not an option because of its size and the location of the tumor in his brain. The journey ahead is long, but their faith tells them that they do not walk it alone.
The current treatment plan is a newer drug that has had success in keeping this type of tumor from growing, and sometimes even shrinking it. Ben is starting this treatment immediately. This could come with side effects, but it can delay starting chemo and radiation for now, which is a huge praise!
This GoFundMe has been created to help support Ben, Rachel, and their children during this time. With your generosity, this will help ease the burden of medical bills, and a few immediate needs, so they can continue to focus on Ben’s health and continuing treatment moving forward. After 2 1/2 weeks off in March, Ben is able to be back to work for now. Once they meet their deductible and their max out-of-pocket expense set by insurance, they are responsible for 20% of all medical bills. That number could reach more than $20,000 before year's end.
Thank you for standing with the Brunswick family during this season. They are so grateful for all of the prayers, love and support! God is faithful through it all.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." -- Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
