Help the Bruce and Vicki Gilmore
This fund drive is for Bruce and Vicki Gilmore of Waverley TN. They were caught in the recent floods in Humphreys County and lost their home and most belongings including both their vehicles. They almost lost their lives. Their property sat closest to Trace Creek in Waverley. Something breached up creek from them causing a flash flood that overwhelmed so quickly that they had no time to evacuate their belongings before they were hit with a wall of water.
Bruce and Vickie have needs for the short term while they figure out their future going forward. Housing will be the biggest issue for them in the near future. But now they are in need of assistance to help cover their everyday costs of living, replacing Bruces special needs van and paying relocation costs as Vicki looks for alternative housing.
Bruce is a graduate of McMinnville High School, Class of 1972. He started his career in nursing and worked his way into hospital administration. Unfortunately he has his own disabling medical issues. He suffers from ALS (also known as the "Steven Hawkins" disease) and is confined to a specialized wheelchair. His only way to live any kind of normal life is hinged on it. Vicki is retired from the US Postal service and is very active with the Humane Society there; most noteably her help with finidng lost pets.
I have talked to Bruce personally and he is safe. His medical needs are being met. Vicki is left to attend to recovering what she can from the wreckage of their home and trying very hard to find housing for them as their own house is probably a total loss. Their son has had to take leave from work to help manage his parents dissaster. Any gift of any amount will be put to good use and appreciated by them both.
I want to personally thank everyone who has helped with donations and/or is sharing this fund drive. Ugency is of utmost importance as another storm is headed in their direction. Hurrican Ida will hit the gulf coast very soon as a category 4 storm with a very wide storm surge. It is predicted to head its way into Tennessee with Waverly in its path. This is disaster on top of disaster. Please give whatever you can even if it is just a few dollars. Blessings to all.
